The Guardian Sensor 3 is a component of Medtronic’s Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) system, designed to provide real-time glucose readings for individuals with diabetes. The Guardian Sensor 3 is built to be used continuously for up to seven days. This means you can wear it for an entire week to monitor your glucose levels without needing to replace it. After seven days, you need to replace the sensor to keep it working accurately.
The Guardian Sensor 3 is compatible with the Medtronic MiniMed 670G, 770G, and 780G insulin pump systems. Each system includes the MiniMed insulin pump, Guardian Link 3 transmitter, and the sensor, allowing continuous glucose monitoring and insulin delivery for improved diabetes management.
The Guardian Sensor 3 allows users to share glucose data with up to 4 people through the CareLink Personal software. This lets family, caregivers, or healthcare professionals view data and receive alerts, improving diabetes management and keeping the support system informed. Data sharing can be set up via CareLink.
The Guardian Sensor 3 has an accuracy performance of 8.7% MARD when compared to the CONTOUR NEXT LINK 2.4 Meter. MARD measures the average difference between the two devices’ glucose readings. A lower MARD indicates better accuracy, and 8.7% is considered a good level for continuous glucose monitoring systems.
The guardian 3 sensors​ is water-resistant, enabling safe use during activities like showering and swimming. It can withstand being submerged up to 8 feet (2.4 meters) for up to 30 minutes. However, it is not fully waterproof, so it should not be submerged beyond this limit to avoid damage.
